Historical Fiction Research Paper- Due Wed., March 11
For the majority of the third quarter, you will work on a research paper. For this research paper, you will be responsible for reading a novel of the historical fiction genre by February 17. You will then research the accuracies and inaccuracies/fabricated parts of the story. Once you have completed your research, you will write a paper based on your findings.
The first step in the process, and a very important one is to select a book that is appropriate for you. You will have some time to read in class, but the majority of the reading will be done outside of class as homework.
Please take a look at the keynote below to help you determine which book you would like to read for your research paper!

Introduction To Research Practice
While you read your book (your reading is due February 17), you will learn the ropes of the research process. We will work through the research skills and you will complete components of a research paper focusing on Seabiscuit so that you are prepared to research your novel when you are finished reading. Below, you will find the mini-lessons and materials that we will use for this step of the process.

Source Credibility
Using the Seabiscuit links in the iBook, you will check for credibility of internet sources. The first file below is the sheet that you will use to fill out the first site together using your iPad. The second chart will be handed to you in class, and you will use it to assess the credibility of the other iBook links. (You will be given this in class too, but if you are absent, you should print it yourself or fill it out on a computer/iPad and then print it to hand it in)
